We left Devil’s Cay this morning on the
rising tide – probably so named because it’s a devil to get into and out of! We
managed it in very little water, with a slight scrape to the keel on the coral
head in the cut.
The rest of the day consisted of another
7-knot, 6-hour trip under full sail – but this time with the engine as well,
since the wind was light. After a beautiful day on the open ocean, out of sight
of land, my captain navigated us flawlessly into hugely busy Nassau Harbour –
passing fleets of cruise boats, tankers, many large yachts and some small ones
like us.
So we’re now swinging at anchor again,
listening to the live reggae music from a near-by hotel. We’ve just eaten a
dinner of fresh Mahi Mahi with lemon garlic basil butter – provided by friends
who caught the fish yesterday.
Next stop, the Exumas, 30 miles away across
the Bahama Bank – then island to island down to our final destination in George
Town – quite a trip!
