As we make progress on readying Sea Change
to sail, we’re also getting into little routines here in Titusville.
For instance, now that the rain and wind
have stopped, I’ve developed a habit of walking into the village every day
after boat work to the wonderful Sunrise Bakery for fresh bread and a latte.
The other day, they had a “Grand Reopening” to celebrate new ownership, and
they gave away free bread samples and mango juice. I think the whole town
showed up with lots of kids – it was great!
In the last few days we’ve replaced the
head (bathroom) fixture, got the dingy motor going, cleaned the bilge,
recaulked the galley (kitchen) sink, got the propane sorted out for the
fireplace/heater, and finally installed working Christmas lights just as
everyone else was taking theirs down! We find them useful for helping us find
our boat in a busy anchorage J.
Yesterday we greeted friends who just
arrived from Mimico Cruising Club in Toronto. They now have their beautiful
45-foot Jeanneau docked right across from us, and we may head down the ICW and
try to cross the Gulf Stream with them. They were pretty shocked by the below
freezing temperatures here!
Last night I cooked my first Jambalaya –
pretty good – and today I’m heading to a performance of “Mama Mia” in the
village with a woman I’ve made friends with here in the Marina. Jeff will do
the last big plumbing job to fix the leak in the galley sink. So life is great,
despite the cold weather – still feels like a good place to be for now.
