A Classy Town to Explore

St. Petersburg – what a treat! A small, sophisticated town full of art, music and great coffee shops. Yesterday we spent a cloudy afternoon wandering around a gorgeous craft gallery, the Chihuly Glass Gallery, a whole lane of hand-painted murals, and a wonderful coffee shop where we met the town’s Santa Claus. Turns out he’s also a sailor and full of local knowledge – so we have the full scoop on this area.

We ended the day at fisherman’s wharf, under the full moon, eating crab’s legs and sipping margaritas … very romantic, even for us old folk!

Today we head to the Dali Gallery, and a Frieda Kahlo exhibit there, and then on to a live glass-blowing demo on Main Street. There’s also an apparently superb holocaust museum here. When the weather warms up we may make it to one of the beautiful beaches near here, right on the Gulf Coast – our kind of place J. Right now we’re in a cold front for a few days, but it’s a good time to explore.
